‘She’s Making Sure She Is Not Dreaming’

After plenty of interviews across four years, I spent the afternoon with one of my favorite people in the world, Joel McHale. Whoever said “never meet your heroes” obviously had the wrong ones because boy, am I blessed. This guy is the absolute kindest, most down-to-earth person you will ever know. Getting the chance to spend the day with him on the set of one of his projects was an absolute blast and so surreal. We had so many laughs and hugs and just good ‘ol conversation.

For more on this (coming soon), be sure to check out the Events & Appearances page on my portfolio. Y’all are in for a treat with tons of coverage coming your way at Collider! You won’t want to miss it! In the meantime, check out my interview with Joel and his Animal Control co-star Ravi Patel, and hear about their experience working with Joel’s Community co-star, Ken Jeong.

‘Living Wild, Wild Life’

It’s not every day that you get to talk to your comedy heroes but when you do, it’s a moment that sticks with you and one that truly means the world. In the past four years across two entertainment websites, I’ve been really humbled to chat with Joel McHale almost 10 times for work. Naturally, each time has been so much fun and incredibly special.

He is one of the kindest, funniest, and most down-to-earth people you will ever know! To say just how much Joel’s comedy has meant to me over the years is something I can never quite put into words (but more into LOLs and smiles). I started watching his version of The Soup from the very start and I was glued — like thighs on a plastic seat during a hot summer’s day. I literally grew up with the show and went through so much of life with it. My sister’s illness, relationship heartache, good jobs, bad jobs, all of it. Like how Conan O’Brien is a big part of my childhood salvation, Joel is too and I’ll never be able to say thank you, no matter how much I try. His comedy has meant a lot to me and I’m eternally grateful.

In honor of Animal Control Season 2 premiering tonight on FOX, check out my review and look back at all the shared hilarity with Joel. He really is the best!

Soup’s Up! Bidding Farewell to E!’s “The Soup”

After 22 seasons, E! is finally saying goodbye to The Soup—a weekly pop culture clip show rooted in satire and sarcasm, hailed by fans and critics alike as one of the most hilarious and cleverest programs the network has ever seen. Okay, so maybe the critics never really said much because they’re all pandering to the drama of the socialites and superficial programmingbut it was a fantastic show.

As a true staple on E! for more than two decades and after Joel McHale took the reins and reformatted its predecessor, Talk Soup in 2004 with the help of a fantastic group of writers and producers, simply put, The Soup was ‘broth-taking.’

The Kosta Doin’ Comedy: Breaking Down “The Comment Section” with Michael Kosta

With the rapid expansion of social media, there’s a new type of user crawling out from the deep, dark, and murky pits of the Internet’s basement, turning the web into the “Wild West” for belligerent and often impudent dialogue through the comments section found on articles of news sites.

Feeling like the closest thing to hell the Internet has ever seen, the comments section is truly an increasing cesspool of new-age stupidity and poorly spelled monologues, unleashing mindlessness and vitriol. But it’s more of a goldmine for E!’s newest star, the hilarious and affable Michael Kosta.

Finding amusement and humor in such discourse with his new show, The Comment Section, the 36 year-old comedian finds people just don’t care what they say online.

“There’s no consequence, you know? You post and nothing really happens,” he says. “There’s just no stakes.”

Having just landed in a somewhat snazzy hotel in the suburbs of Minneapolis before heading to his standup set, the Michigan native is a smart, sensible, and laid-back guy, who genuinely enjoys his newfound gig.

Braving “The Comment Section” with Michael Kosta

With the rise of social media in recent years, a new species of users has crawled out from the shadowy depths of the Internet, turning the web into the “wild west” of sorts for aggressive and insolent verbal slinging. While perusing the comment section of any article on a news site, the unremitting stream of mindlessness and vitriol that flows even on the most basic stories proves that the comments section is by far the closest thing to hell the Internet has ever seen.

The anonymity, ease of access, and various networks made available for users all over the world have unleashed not only stupidity through a poorly spelled or incoherent cesspool of inanity in the comment section, but clever comedy ripe for the picking by bright minds who know otherwise.

With a focus on breaking down snarky comments found on popular websites, E!’s newest series The Comment Section dissects how viewers and Internet commenters react to the week’s biggest news stories. Hosted by smooth-talking funnyman and the ever so charming, Michael Kosta, the half-hour satirical commentary show runs in the same vein of E!’s third highest rated show on the network, The Soup hosted by Joel McHale.
